We have had some very busy weeks recently with the children having the opportunity to meet their new teachers both at their new schools and here at Noah's Ark.
This time of the year, transitioning from pre-school to Reception classes, can be a period of mixed emotions not just for children but for parents and staff too. Anxiety, excitement, trepidation are all palpable emotions that are present around times of change and that is why it is important we share information on what will help support children transition to a new environment. Here are some resources that may help:
A short video https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zkqnxbk and a great easy read leaflet https://resources.leicestershire.gov.uk/sites/resource/files/field/pdf/2019/6/18/Ready_For_School_Leaflet_Leics.pdf
However, it is important to remember that transitions should be viewed as a process rather than something that just "happens". Indeed transitions can be described as an ongoing journey rather than a destination.
Nevertheless, with all the comings and goings the children have been as creative, imaginative and energetic as ever. We've had lots of construction activity using a myriad of loose parts; watering of plants in this hot weather, a bit of bird watching, discovering different herbs , making magic potions and even holding a "movie night". And after a busy session a cup of tea and cake with friends!
